Anniversaries

Wedding Anniversary at Robertson Reconciliation GardenLet this celebration be your group gift!

Christmas gift giving research shows:

  • individual small presents is a waste of time and money for most people.
  • certainly there is magic for children. But as adults?

Why not pool all that individual money to purchase something needed or really appreciated?

For retired people:

  • replacing white goods can eat into capital and thus lower income.
  • perhaps a cruise or spending money for a holiday?

Then for the big anniversaries … why not engage a celebrant to ensure the occasion has a personal and meaningful event to start the celebration?

  • many anniversary parties are boring
  • with most guests waiting for the speeches so they can go home.
  • and few speeches are worth the wait!

OK We need to get past our “Tall Poppy” complex and realise that most poppies are about the same height, and all are beautiful whatever their size.

Younger people need to

  • know much more about older people’s lives.
  • hear there are many ways to live a useful and rewarding life!
  • hear family stories of loss and failure and
  • know how adverse circumstances were over come
  • experience the satisfaction of previous generation’s achievements

Being humble enough use your Wedding Anniversary as a reason to get your family together is important.

  • Especially in Australia where many of us live apart from our clan!
  • It doesn’t mean you have to be upfront and the centre of attention all the time
  • The celebrant and other people are those that take the floor for most of the time.

So consider engaging an ACCN celebrant by making a combined group gift, rather than buying individual presents.
